2 – A single cell will end with a voltage of 5 V.

3 – A single cell will change from 0 V to 4 V, at which point it will be considered half way between 0 and 5 V.

4 – The polarity refers to how the output changes as the input changes, with +5 V being positive and –5 V being negative.
