Programs

Bachelor

The University of Toronto offers about 700 undergraduate programs in the humanities and social sciences, life sciences, physical and mathematical sciences, commerce and management, computer science, engineering, kinesiology and physical education, music and architecture.

In addition, the university offers graduate professional programs in education, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, law and medicine.

Masters

The University of Toronto offers more than 280 graduate programs in a wide variety of fields. This includes more than 60 professional master’s programs and 76 combined programs that include professional master’s components. U of T also offers 40 joint programs and three diploma programs.

Admission to the University of Toronto in 2023

The University of Toronto has moderate competition, with an average admission rate of 43%. For University of Toronto admission to the UG program, applications begin in September/October, and the application deadline is usually early November. For some subjects, the application deadline is mid-January.

Registration for fall admission to graduate programs at the University of Toronto begins in July, and the application deadline is late August through December. Applicants to the MBA program may apply by September 2.

Application fees: For students wishing to enroll in University of Toronto programs, the application fee is 180 CAD and the graduate admission fee is 120 CAD and is non-refundable.

GPA requirements: International students need a minimum GPA of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale (~89-90%) to enter the University of Toronto.

Subjects offered: The University of Toronto offers 700 undergraduate degree programs. International students can choose from over 200 graduate programs to study in Canada.

Admissions decisions: The university publishes its admissions decisions for undergraduate programs in February, since most application deadlines are in mid-January.

The application process for all undergraduate programs is through the Ontario Universities Application Centre. Because graduate programs at the University of Toronto vary in enrolment, expect to hear back within a month of the last application deadline.

University of Toronto Undergraduate programs

The University of Toronto offers 700+ undergraduate programs in a variety of majors. International students make up about 24% of the total undergraduate student population. All applicants are advised to complete their applications on time and submit all required documents by the required deadlines.

University of Toronto Application Steps:

– Complete the application for admission and submit the required documents
– Apply for your study permit and entry visa after you have received your acceptance letter from the university.
– Students can obtain applications for these documents from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate before you leave.
– You can also seek help from the Centre for International Experience to get relief from unexpected problems while in Canada.

When enrolling in an undergraduate program, if the student is under the age of 18, Immigration Canada may ask the student to find a Canadian citizen to act as a guardian.

Admission requirements: General admission requirements include:

– A completed application form.

– All academic transcripts from high school/senior high school
– Completed high school or 12th grade course work
– Self-completed grades form
– Results from standardized tests for study in Canada
– English language requirements – TOEFL/ IELTS/ Cambridge C1 or C2/ CAEL, etc.

Academic requirements: Due to the strength and size of the applicant pool at the University of Toronto, the university does not have a predetermined grade point average. Applications are considered on the basis of other criteria. University of Toronto Country-Specific Academic Requirements

The University of Toronto provides the equivalent of an academic qualification for a student who has graduated from a high school outside of Canada. The table below shows some minimum requirements for applicants by country:

University of Toronto Graduate Admission

The University of Toronto offers graduate admission to more than 200+ master’s and doctoral programs. The University offers a number of master’s programs at its St. George campus through the School of Graduate Studies. MSc Computer Science, Management Analytics, and Financial Economics are currently popular programs for which applications are accepted. Applicants can apply directly to the University of Toronto through the application portal.

– Interview may be required for some programs.

University of Toronto Admission Decision

Students receive confirmation of their application two weeks after application with details of the further application process, and the university publishes admission decisions between mid-December and the end of May.

Verification is done as follows:

– Verification of the applicant’s eligibility for the university’s general admission requirements and the requirements of a particular program.
– Verification of students’ academic records based on the last 2 years of study.
– Other factors are consistency; where and when courses were taken – regular day school, evening school, summer school; and the number of times any courses were attempted.
– The result of the proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).

Applying for a Canadian visa

After receiving the acceptance letter from the university, the applicant will have to apply for a Canadian visa to complete the admission process. It is recommended that applicants submit all documents in time for an offer of admission and pay the tuition fees to apply for a study permit at the Canadian Embassy.

Documents required for the study permit include:

– A letter of admission from the college
– Valid passport
– Command of English – TOEFL/ IELTS
– Proof of financial means to cover tuition and academic expenses for study in Canada.
– Letter of explanation
– Applicants will be required to submit their biometric information and application for successful approval of their tuition authorization.

International students may also require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Students can contact the Canadian embassy to inquire about their eligibility and arrange for travel to Canada.
