Paris St-Germain’s Ligue 1 game at Strasbourg has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Paris St-Germain’s Ligue 1 game in Strasbourg, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to an outbreak of coronavirus.
It was the first top game in France to be canceled, and as of Friday night, the country had 613 people tested positive and nine dead.
No details have been given when rearranging the game will take place.
Other sporting events in the country were also affected, including the Paris Marathon and the Paris-Nice cycling race.
“Following the Bas-Rhin authorities’ order on coronavirus transmission, the meeting was postponed, ” the PSG said in a statement.
French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced that all schools and nurseries in the northern province of Luz and Le Haut-Rhin in the northeast would be closed on Monday for two weeks.
The local authorities added: “the arrival of 26,000 at the minau Stadium, a quarter of which comes from the Upper Rhine region, is likely to facilitate the spread of Covid-19.”
